The system offers four power options: 40, 40i, 60, and 80.
The MD-40i, a 40-watt isotope CO2 laser with dual shutters, can be operated via an articulated arm or the LEI UltraLase flexible CO2 laser waveguide. The C13 isotope tube has a wavelength of 11.2 microns, preventing the laser beam from being absorbed by CO2 gas. This eliminates thermal blooming and has no impact on tissue interaction. A more focused beam allows for greater power with lower tissue power. The use of a new hollow sub-overlap fiber conduit eliminates the need for special purging gases.
It is over 75% more efficient and reliable in CO2 laser laparoscopic surgery applications.
